So it looks like one of my cheap youtube clips of Sian Alice Group has made it on to the NME's Video Awards for 2009. Which is nice.

'Salt Water' @ Cargo 15/11/09
Here's Sian Alice Group playing a song in the dark.
I played lap steel on this one. Seemed to work out just fine.

Who Stole The Soul?
Great article on why modern rock and pop sounds so bad. It's scary to think that most modern 'producers' would ask Hendrix to redo 99% of his guitar parts... and 100% of his vocal parts.

Here's to tomorrow

Playing at Cargo tomorrow.
Playing lap steel and harmonica, neither of which I've played live before so it'll be and eye (ear?) opener for all those involved.
Thinking of ways to add this into my arsenal (spurs?):

Radist t-shirt award
Me and Crook met the weirdist euro guy with the best t-shirt around. No idea what he was saying but all is forgiven.

Sian Alice Group - 'Motionless'
Sian Alice Group performing 'Motionless' at Brighton's Loop Festival 2009.
This is the last song of the set filmed from the side of the stage by me.
Some highlights of this clip include Graham using the 'bashing the strings with my fist' technique on his bass, Rupert playing glockenspiel throughout the mid section (off camera unfortunately) and Crook ending up wrapped around his guitar so that it looks like a novelty bow tie

Inspirators & Innovators - Raymond Pettibon
Raymond's art really resonated with me at a young age.
His pop art/comic stylings gave the Generation X'ers some much needed '50's rebellion. You can sense a real up yours to classic technique and a conscious balance between his humorous and poignant takes on suburban life and sticking it to 'the man'
All of the above can also be said of his brother's guitar playing.
SAG @ Corn Exchange, Brighton - 11th July
Saturday will be the day that Sian Alice Group feat. myself perform at Brighton's Loop Festival.
There will be more shows to follow and I'm hoping to have a good friend document this period to film.

Sian Alice Group -The Dusk Line
The Sian Alice Group have asked me to pleasure them over the Summer months, which I will be doing with great pride. Oddly enough I know each of them well, but through very different means (family, music, childhood, etc). It'll be strange to see them all in the same place when we enter their studio (which I also know well for different reasons)
